Our History

SMPS was founded in 1973 by leaders from professional services firms who joined forces to advance their careers and their companies. In 2009, the Fort Worth chapter was born by a group of professional services firm leaders who recognized the need to sharpen skills, pool resources, and work together to create business opportunities.  In the United States and Canada, more than 6,000 marketing and business development professionals belong to SMPS. More than 5,000 design and building firms support the organization, encompassing 80% of the Engineering News-Record Top 500 Design Firms and Top 400 Contractors.
